I’m Bettina Hünteler, a sociologist and demographer by training, with special interest in social inequality in the context of kinship and family as well as migration and gender.

I hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of Cologne and am currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at DIW Berlin in the international research project DECIPHE, led by Prof. Dr. Philipp Lersch.

In my work, I study the association between socio-demographic life events, such as the birth of and having children or migration, and social inequality, such as wealth or health. The life course and cumulative inequality are central concepts of my studies and I try to highlight within- and between-population heterogeneities.
